All right, if I can get you to sit still for a minute, let’s talk about ADHD.
And as much as we made a little joke there, this is a serious matter.
Because I’m not that old, I’m only 36 years of age, so this diagnosis of ADHD is very new.
I can ask maybe some of you in older generations to think about when you were 10, 20, 30 years old, you never heard of such a thing. Why?
You might find it very interesting to know the following.
Every medical diagnosis that is out there has some diagnostic testing to tell you that. So, for example, they suspect you of having diabetes, they draw your blood, then check your A1c count; they check your glucose levels, and based on those numbers, we have real data that says oh you have diabetes or you’re not.
That is not true when it comes to the diagnosis of ADHD.
It is an entirely subjective diagnosis. There’s no diagnostic to it.
So a psychiatrist may diagnose somebody with ADHD, is doing it based on their opinion.
Do you know that the root cause of mental health, in any scenario, and specifically with ADHD, it’s not about your brain?
It’s about your gut. Wait. What?
Yes. ADHD originates from the gut.
How is that possible?
Have you ever heard of something called neurotransmitters?
Neurotransmitters are things like serotonin and dopamine. These are the things that make us feel excellent and happy, or it makes us feel sad and depressed.
80% of your neurotransmitters are in your gut.
So if 80% are here and 20% are here, why do we call these things mental health problems?
Not for me to answer, that’s for another person, but that’s a curious question.
So what does that tell us? The root cause of ADHD is not because your child is out of control or you have a hard time focusing; it’s to do with the health of your gut.
If your gut is happy, you’re happy.
If your gut’s depressed, you’re depressed.
If your gut’s all over the place, you’re all over the place.
Some of these points of fact are well laid out by a current neurologist. This man’s name is Dr. David Perlmutter. He’s written a couple of books, but a specific book that I wanna talk to you real quickly about is called “Brain Maker,” In his book “Brain Maker,” he goes into extensive detail regarding what’s called your microbiome, the creation of your neurotransmitters, and how your gut is known as your second brain.
The origin of your emotion stems from your gut.
