Let’s talk about acne.
Do you believe that acne is something that you are supposed to have, that it’s due to your genetics or some hereditary defect?
That is, in fact, false. False?
What does that mean?
I’ve witnessed in my office that acne can be handled and corrected.
So if you were to take advice from the FDA, the FDA would tell you that there is no known prevention, and there is no dietary cause of why you have acne.
But there’s an exciting tidbit to that because the main prescription they like to give when you deal with acne is antibiotics.
Now there’s some science behind that, that I want to bring you up to speed on.
Your skin, so whether you’re male or female, our skin has on it what we call a microbiome. Our microbiome is compiled of trillions and trillion little cells.
These cells are made up of viruses, bacteria, parasites, and fungus.
When we have good guys and bad guys in harmony, you have excellent skin health.
But when you have a mismatch and an unbalanced of your microbiome, you get things that grow like acne, which is why they give you an antibiotic because they’re there to get rid of the harmful bacteria.
So an antibiotic may give you temporary relief of acne, but if you’ve ever noticed, you stop taking the antibiotic and your skin returns.
So by the FDA’s standards, if we keep taking our antibiotic, we’ll have perfect skin.
The problem is that in addition to your skin, you also have a microbiome in your digestive tract.
So this continual chronic use of antibiotics not only is breaking your gut down, but it will eventually break the skin down and make that weaker.
There is absolutely truth and validity to the fact that diet plays a significant role in the cause of acne, as well as correction & prevention.
